These cars are old fashioned and very different to the cars that exist in the world today. Since these cars dawned over the world between the peaceful period that existed before World War2 and after World War 1, these cars are rare to find and have valuable history inside them. Classic cars are not only about what they look like and how smooth they are while someone drives them. These classic cars also show the changes of generations that have existed in the last century and how equipment, as well as designs and fashion, changed over the transition f newer generations.

What is even more astonishing about classic cars is the history that these cars carry on with the world. The lives of people who drove such classic cars have been described through the luxury and designs of these cars, and this is what describes the persona of the car itself. One cannot feverishly look at a classic car and disregard it as some car that needs to be divided into pieces, smashed up like rubble and then left to rot in a scrapyard as junk and undesired material. No, these classic cars are the reason generations of today still have that fear of war and hatred that always prevails after an era of peace. Just like these cars were torn and ravaged in a war, these cars also exuberate the sheer class of their honour and how they did not fear anything that came in their way.

There are a lot of reasons as to why Classic cars are worth a lot of money and most of these reasons have to do with how old the cars actually are and how remarkably functional they still maintain to be. Moreover, these cars were built and owned in the era of the Great depression and since cars were seen as a luxury back in that era, it is highly understandable that only the rich and wealthy could afford cars. Truly, these cars were highly priced back in their era, enabling only the rich to be able to buy such cars and use them for their comfort and bragging. What is more to offer in this regard is the fact that these cars are still kept with their generational owners, most of these cars at least.

The ones that have been sold are travelling around the world ever since this concept of buying classic cars became prominent. It makes even more sense when people learn about the awareness that classic cars have for car enthusiasts. Auction prices for some of these rare classic and vintage cars begin at one million or over so that their value of significance and price remains intact while the consumer gets his satisfaction of boasting a an expensive classic car as well. These reasons accumulate to make sense about why classic cars are expensive and the significance each price contains for the classic car. Old people love classic cars more than anyone else because classic cars remind them of their lifetime and how untouched it was from the digital world.

Classic cars remind old people of their early ages and how satisfying everything seemed to be back then. These stories and dilemmas are the reason old people love classic cars more than anyone and will do all they can to get their hands on one of these classics. Having said that, it is also worthy of note that old people who are war veterans are reminded of the peace that existed before the wars began when they lay their eyes on such cars and this is notably why old people cherish the serenity of such classic cars. At the end of the day, it becomes very clear that classic cars are still prominent in holding their position because they carry a lot of wealth and history as well as different cultures over time with them. They remain to be one of the most expensive assets a company or family could hold themselves close to.

The development of the bicycle is very important in the history of cars as most of the parts found in the early cars owed their origin from them. Such parts as the chain-and-sprocket drive, the tires, bearings, spooked wheels and many other components of the automobile were derived from the bicycle. Steam cars faced limitations in the building technology and lack of good roads and it was only in the 19th century that personal transportation emerged. These cars were very heavy thus meaning that they could only travel on rails to function effectively. The steam engines were therefore used on railroads leading to the great success of the railroad industry. The steam engines operated by burning wood or other fuel and the thus generated heated water in boilers.

The resulting steam was used in driving pistons up and down and in the process turning the crankshaft, which ultimately moved the wheels. These steam engines required numerous stops to replenish its water and also needed long time to start. The invention of internal combustion engines was influenced by the idea of personal mobility. This venture required that individual vehicles have a source of power to drive them. As already seen, steam power was out of question and could not be used in personal cars because of their weight and the fact that they could only use rails. This led to the idea of an internal combustion engine that contained an air-fuel mixture within it. Attempts to make an internal combustion engine dates back to the late 17th century; when efforts to use gunpowder were made but failed.

In s, a French engineer, Etienne Lenoir constructed a double acting engine in which an ignited mixture of air and gas was used to push the piston to the far end and of the cylinder creating a power stroke. When this piston was pushed back I the same mechanism, another power stroke was created and the exhausted gas was expelled. Therefore, for each revolution of the crankshaft, two power strokes were produced. This kind of engine had its disadvantage in that the air was not compressed before being burned and therefore the engine produced less power and was inefficient. In Germany, Nicholas Otto also made significant steps in the development of steam engine. Together with his friend Eugen Langen , Otto developed a four-stroke cycle in This model of engine was however not efficient but was a gap in the building of more improved combustion engines.

The same engine was installed onto a four wheeled wagon to make the first internal combustion engine car Volti 4. Germany is credited with the manufacture of the first cars but credit also goes to France where considerable steps in the motor industry. Peugeot, a steel metal company, constructed the first car that used a v-twin engine which was a Daimler engine design. Peugeot later on produced its own design of engine which used independently pivoting wheels. Another French company, Panhard et Levassor also introduced a car that was more sophisticated than the Peugeot. Its first internal combustion engine automobile was designed by Charles and frank Duryea in Massachusetts in The car was propelled by an engine with a single-cylinder and contained a spray carburetor and electric ignition.

The Duryea motor wagon company came into existence in and specialized in gasoline cars. Henry Ford first built his two cylinder engine car in Detroit and only registered the Ford Motor Company in Other important car builders in US during the early stages included; Ransom E. Olds and William C. Durant who founded General Motors in This mostly came into being in the s but failed due to the fact that early batteries were limited in their capacity to store energy. They could also travel longer distance comparatively. However their prominence dwindled in the s as the advantage was taken by the gasoline cars.

Other factors that led to the near demise of electric cars were the expansion and betterment of roads between cities thus creating the need for long range cars. Gasoline availability also meant that gasoline cars were easier to maintain than the electric cars. Another brow to the electric cars was rendered by the invention of the electric starter by Charles Kettering in The great success in the evolution of automobiles, prior to this development; vehicles powered by gasoline were started by a hand crank which was more dangerous and difficult to use.

Finally, the initiation of mass production of vehicles using internal combustion engine made their availability and affordability possible when compared to electric cars Mom During the years that followed s , there was an almost complete disappearance of the electric cars. The years between and experienced an urge to re-introduce electric cars. This was mainly because of the increase in air pollution caused by the internal combustion engine cars and the rise in the prices of crude oil. There followed many attempts by various companies to come up with electric trucks that would be easy to maintain. Recent developments have been aimed at producing environmental friendly vehicles and emphasis has been laid on electric cars.

Among some of the modern electric cars in the market include the Toyota RAV4 sport, Honda EV Plus sedan and several models of Chrysler. Early car makers employed similar techniques in the manufacture of cars. This technique were however similar to those used in heavy engineering industries. Early automobile companies were initially bicycle makers such as Peugeot and the Riley in Britain. These motor companies used skilled workers in modest workshops but as volume of production increased, there was change to batch system. In the one-off system, workers and parts moved to the areas of the workshop where the car was positioned. Accessory machines were also grouped in regard to the type of work performed by each. Assembly of the car parts was later done in one location.

The chain driven assembly line replaced the sliding rail system in the ford workshop. Modern manufacturing techniques are highly automated and in some companies, most of the work is done by robots. The final results of modern technology are faster, more comfortable and reliable cars. There is a great deal of differences in cars we have today and those present in the early years. However, it is worth mentioning that the principles have relatively remained the same and only the outlook and few other aspects have been changing. Internal combustion engines may use diesel or petrol. However, for a long time, diesel powered vehicle were neglected but are now making a comeback because of their high efficiency and long life.

Diesel powered vehicle can also burn other types of fuel. These vehicles are more expensive compared to gas cars. There are numerous car manufacturing companies today when compared to the earlier years. The US is today the highest producer of motor vehicles in the world today while Japan is the second. The amount of cars in the world today exceeds 1 billion with the number expected to rise in the near future.

Over the years, various types of cars have been developed. Manufacturing companies have designed and different types of cars to meet various consumer needs. However, there are three types of unique cars that have been marketed to meet specific consumer needs. There are numerous classes in which cars may be classified, however complete classification is hard to pin down as a car may fit into a range of classes, or not entirely meet the requirements of any class. Cars can be classified according to their size, performance, price, shape and mechanical specifications. There are generally three unique types of cars common to modern consumers: economy, sports and luxury cars.

The most common type of car common in the market is the economy car. The economy car is designed and marketed in such a manner that the consumer can acquire it at a price much lower than the average cost of a new car. Economy cars vary with respect to profitability, size, performance and production numbers. During early production, most cars produced were expensive and could only be afforded by rich. However, production companies realized that they could boost up their profits by manufacturing affordable cars for the general population. The Model T car produced by Ford in became the first economy car to be sold in the world. The first major characteristic of economy cars is that they have low prices. Economy cars are also usually small and the features of the car usually depend on the year of manufacture.

They usually have the compulsory safety features such as safety belts but they may lack convenience features such as GPS systems and air conditioning. An example of an economy car is the Japanese Toyota Corolla which has sold more units than any other car in the world. The second type of unique cars is the sports car. Sports cars are vehicles designed to have better performance and power than normal cars. Many sports cars are designed for two passengers, have two doors and have sleek bodies. Originally, sports cars had small bodies however contemporary sports cars vary in size with many manufacturers increasing their seating room in order to enhance practicality.

These types of cars are designed to do extremely well at maneuverability, acceleration, braking and top speed. The main distinguishing feature of sports cars is that the handling characteristics of these cars have been greatly improved. The driver is usually able to keep the car in control even under very difficult conditions. While a powerful engine is not a prerequisite, most sports cars do contain powerful engines. Sports cars are relatively expensive; much more expensive than economy cars and other typical cars common in the market. The Porsche Company is an example of a manufacturing company that has been linked with the production of unique sports cars designed to meet specific tastes and needs.

As compared to other cars in the market, sports cars are intended to emulate sporting performance. The final type of unique cars common in the market is luxury or comfortable cars. These cars are designed to boost ease and comfort. These cars usually are geared for luxury and contain features that aim to achieve this goal. Luxury cars usually contain innovative equipments, greater performance and features designed to convey prestige or brand image. The principal characteristic of luxury cars is that they are designed for comfort far above typical cars. They usually contain features such as leather seats, custom dashboards, and anti-lock brakes.

Modern luxury cars also offer better handling and performance but this is secondary to comfort and safety. Luxury cars are highly expensive and are usually targeted at wealthy buyers and collectors. The style of construction and technological features of luxury cars are such that they convey high class. As compared to the other cars common in the market, luxury cars are intended for comfort and to convey prestige and status of the owner. Mercedes Benz is a company that has been linked with the production of luxury cars including the Mercedes Benz S-Class model.

Cars have evolved over the years to become an essential part of human life. There have been many types of vehicles designed over the years however three types of vehicles stand out in the contemporary market. Economy, sports and luxury cars are vehicles designed for a particular group of consumers and vary in terms of price, functionality and embedded features. Consumer power, taste and preferences are essential elements in deciding the type of car one will buy and it is for these reasons that most manufacturers seek to design and produce these three types of vehicles.
